Daily enrichment and learning opportunities are essential to the mental well being of the animals in our care as well as providing them with life skills that will help them become welcome additions to their new adoptive families. We are very excited to be able to provide new enrichment and behavior modification opportunities for our animals thanks to the donations of our dedicated supporters!
Here's a couple great ways to support HSBC without it costing you anything!!!!!!
If you order from Amazon.com you can help support the shelter animals by going to AmazonSmile.com & selecting 'Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc' as your chosen charitable organization. When you do that, Amazon will donate 0.5% of your total purchase to the shelter. Please spread the word to your friends family that order from Amazon.com also.
'WALK FOR A DOG'
If you walk or ride a bike with your dog there is an app for your smart phone that keeps track of the walks & donates to the shelter of your choice according to how many people walk & how far they walk. You can even use the app if you don't have a dog to walk with & they'll still donate. You can learn more about it & get the app at www.WoofTrax.com.
Thank you for your support!
Here are some things we could use:
Hi, my name is Storm!
Storm is a short haired gray kitten who'd love to be your sunshine on a rainy day. Storm here arrived at our Shelter as a stray during a week of Stormy weather. From day one he's been chipper young boy who's affectionate and playful, but is a sensitive soul underneath it all. He's on the fearful side with other cats, even those his own size. We believe this is just due to limited socialization, and can overcome this with time with the right family. That being said, he'd also be fine with being the center of attention in your life. Stop by and meet him for yourself, you won't regret it!
Hi, my name is Sylvia!
Sylvia is a gorgeous 1 1/2 year old black and white feline that's a proud Mother of six tuxedo kittens. Sylvia along with her babies were found abandoned at our Shelter. They were by no means feral, as they very accepting of affection and not in the least bit skittish. It was also apparent they were well taken care of, even after six kittens Sylvia was at a healthy weight but she was definitely not ready to let her babies leave the nest. Being her kittens are eating solid food, we don't want to chance them reverting back to nursing so we keep them separated for the time being. In an effort to get at her kittens, Sylvia slammed herself against the stainless steel kennel in Quarantine which resulted in a minor injury and hair loss on her nose. Sylvia has calmed down bit by bit now that she is upfront, along with the help of her recent spay. She loves to chat and spend time in our outdoor cat condo. We haven't tested her with other cats and dogs but she has shown no aggression or fear even prior to her surgery which is huge plus! Sylvia is a caring and loving feline, who'd make you the center of her universe. We could see her in most any home environment.
